I always find it interesting when I listen to how people interpret my work. A handful have said my fashion illustrations remind them of heroines. I never really thought about it, but a lot of my inspiration does come from strong and fearless heroines. Every time I draw a fashion figure, it is intentional. She is always standing up for something, saying something, or doing something -- with a purpose. I think a lot of what an artist creates is not only a reflection of themselves, but of who or what they want to be. I channel my confidence through my illustrations. I also feed my fascination with color (and maybe my desire to be taller) in my illustrations, too.
Viewers are so truthful when it comes to interpreting art. I'm really thankful I have had help by many people; friends, family, and specifically strangers, tell me what my art means to them. What I found is it means those things to me too, I just didn't realize it yet.
