Teaching Fashion Illustration in Mainstrasse Village

This past weekend I had the opportunity to collaborate with Cole Imperi of Doth Brands and the popular blog, Simplicity Embellished. We hosted a two-hour fashion illustration workshop in Mainstrasse Village, Kentucky.

Here's a photo from the beginning of the workshop, where I demonstrated different mediums illustrators use to illustrate fashion.

I gave a history lesson and also spoke a bit on my favorite type of fashion illustration, live runway sketching.

I showed a Valentino show and taught my students how I sketch at shows. I illustrated 5 gestural looks in about 5 minutes.

Later, we all worked from the same sketch, and my students picked their favorite medium to work in. Here are some shots of their incredible work!

The end!

The end!

I am planning to come back in August to teach another workshop. This time I will open it up to more than 4 people, but will still keep the class relatively small. I hope to see you there!
